Where to Splurge and Where to Save on Wedding Flowers

As all of your details are coming together, and you are shopping around for your florist I challenge you to make a priority list of the wedding flowers that you are wanting to order. Make a dream list then, number it from the most important down to the least important items.

I want you to grab a pen and paper or however you prefer to make lists and really think about what is your priority list is. What is the number 1 thing that you are not willing to budge on? Is that the Bridal Bouquet? Do you have a specific huge signature bouquet that you have been drooling over for a year or more. Are your reception tables being over the top dripping in specialty orchids the clincher for you, but you would be happy just carrying a beautiful dinner plate dahlia? I would list out about 10 items and label them 1 to 10 according to what is more important to you.

These are just a few ideas to really get the mind working. Once you have your list you can start allocating your budget according to your list. I both love and hate Pinterest. It is an amazing tool to search images and find wonderful ideas. I have about 932,847 recipes that I will never get to try because there are simply not enough days in my lifetime pinned ‘just in case’.

However for the couple planning their Big Day it can be really hard. You see all these over the top decor and forals then you are in shock when you receive the quote for those beautiful things and realize that it will just not fit in your budget. That is where this list comes in handy.

This couple wanted a beautiful intimate ceremony on the beach at Cannon Beach, Oregon. Their number one item was their reception. An intimate cozy fire on the beach, warm blankets, toes in the sand, and of course s’mores.

Their second item on the list was a ceremony site. They wanted something that would combine the Bride’s home state of Oregon, and the Groom’s of Hawaii.

There was born the idea. A floral ring made from flowers and greenery grown and sourced in Oregon. I was able to construct a floral ring in gorgeous corals, creams, and peaches with all the items grown in Oregon.

They were able to cut things that were not as important to them in order to stay on budget, and splurged where it really counted, their reception.

They hired the team of Kindred Spirits Planning and Design to complete their day. All they had to worry about was showing up and enjoying their day.

Third on the list was her bouquet. She wanted something that reflected her personal style. Slightly vintage, glam, and of course all from Oregon! There was not a ton of room left in her budget so we went for something medium in price. A few special blooms of heirloom garden roses, but with greenery that added a ton of texture.

Their reception really was amazing, and of course I stayed and had a treat by the fire while the best man serenaded us all with a guitar and a killer voice.
